Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need for this recipe:
Oats: Help create structure and texture while adding fibre to make the brownie bites more satisfying.
Almonds: Add richness, texture, and healthy fats along with a subtle nutty flavour.
Medjool Dates: Help bind the mixture together while adding sweetness and a soft, fudgy texture.
Hemp Hearts: Add plant-based protein and healthy fats.
Chocolate Hazelnut Butter: Adds creamy texture and rich chocolate-hazelnut flavour that gives these bites their brownie-like taste.
Cocoa Powder: Adds deep chocolate flavour without making the bites overly sweet.
Vanilla Extract: Enhances the chocolate flavour and adds warmth.
Salt: Balances the sweetness and helps enhance the chocolate flavour.
Chocolate Chips: Add extra chocolatey goodness and a little texture throughout the bites.
Kitchenware
You’ll also need:
- Food processor
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Spatula
- Baking dish or tray (optional)
- Airtight container for storage
Steps
- Blend the dry ingredients: Add the oats, almonds, hemp hearts, and chocolate chips to a food processor. Pulse until the mixture becomes fine and crumbly.
- Add remaining ingredients: Add the Medjool dates, chocolate hazelnut butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Pulse again until the mixture becomes sticky and holds together when pressed.
- Shape the brownie bites: Roll about 2 tablespoons of the mixture into balls using your hands. Alternatively, press the mixture into a parchment-lined dish or pan and refrigerate for about 1 hour before slicing into squares.
- Chill and store: Store the brownie bites in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to enjoy.
Tips & Notes
- If your Medjool dates feel dry or firm, soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes before blending.
- If the mixture feels too dry, add 1–2 teaspoons of water or extra hazelnut butter.
- These brownie bites store well in both the fridge and freezer, making them great for meal prep. Keep them chilled for the best fudgy texture.
