Rice Crispy Squares

This simple and delicious treat is one of our favourites!


Ingredients

    Squares
  • 3 cups rice cereal (finely puffed)
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • Topping (optional)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

Directions

    Squares
  • In a large bowl, pour in dry cereal. Line a 8×8 pan with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan, melt the peanut butter, honey, and vanilla on low heat, just until melted.
  • Pour the peanut butter and honey mixture into the cereal.
  • Mix until incorporated.
  • Pour mixture into an 8×8 pan and pat down.
  • Add in optional topping (below), if you wish.
  • Put the squares into the freezer for at least 25-30 minutes before cutting into squares.
  • Topping (optional)
  • Melted on stovetop or in microwave until just melted.
  • Spread on top of rice crispy treats and refrigerate or freeze until ready to serve.
